Hi, I’m Shaun Ashford, a Photojournalist, Photographer and Urban Explorer based in Cardiff, South Wales. Since 2012, I have been photographing abandoned and derelict buildings across the UK to document their existence along with any history available so that our future generations can see what was left behind after the doors had closed for the last time and in most cases, the building was demolished.

In 2017, I extended by love for photography by expanding into the difficult world of photojournalism, capturing breaking news scenes from across the South Wales area as they happen for local and national media outlets, featuring within South Wales Echo, WalesOnline, Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, The Sun and MailOnline.

With the global pandemic now behind us, after a 2 year break, I’ve made the leap to revamp my photography, begin the breaking news chase and once again, step inside our forgotten buildings that are overlooked by many. Now in 2025 though, I’m taking to the skies in addition to my ground work with my drone photography equipment allowing me to capture high quality photographic and video content.
